Claudia Merandi has had Crohn’s Disease since she was a child and lived in a hospital for about 12 years. She was a successful court reporter, business owner, mother to two. Due to the severity of her illness, lost everything. After several bowel restrictions, c-diff 26 times, 600 days hospitalized, colostomy bags, NG tubes, out of desperation to achieve health, she had her breast implants removed. Then she became an advocate for people with pain. She organized the Don’t Punish Pain Rally organization to give people a voice with pain who were deleted from the country. Starting with a few members to now having thousands across the country as well as Australia and Canada.

Dan Laird, M.D. has 20 years of experience as a medical doctor and an anesthesiologist. He is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Anesthesiology. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Idaho, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in vertebrate zoology with highest honors. He then attended medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, receiving honors recognition in several basic science and clinical courses. Following medical school, he remained at the University of Washington School of Medicine for a three year residency in anesthesiology, followed by a fellowship in interventional and non-interventional pain management. Following several years in private practice, Dr. Laird returned to Seattle as a faculty member of the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Laird is also a licensed attorney and worked for several years as the physician risk manager of a large hospital system in the Pacific Northwest. He has served on numerous hospital committees and has held several offices in medical organizations, including president of the Nevada State Society of Anesthesiologists and Chair of the Board of Directors of the nation’s largest medical specialty political action committee. Throughout his career, patient safety and well being have been the central focus of his clinical interactions with patients.

Vanila Singh, M.D. is an American physician and professor with involvement in United States health policy.[1] Singh was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives in 2014.[2] Early in her career she taught at UCLA Medical Center,[3] and she is currently an associate professor of anesthesiology, perioperative and pain medicine at Stanford University Medical Center.[4] On June 12, 2017,[5] she was appointed the chief medical officer to the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.[6] She served as Chair of the Inter-Agency Pain Management Task Force established by the CARA Act of 2016, which released its final report on acute and chronic pain management best practices on May 30, 2019.[7]
